About the Author:
Liv Olteano is a voracious reader, music lover, and coffee addict extraordinaire. And occasional geek. Okay, more than occasional.
She believes stories are the best kind of magic there is. And life would be horrible without magic. Her hobbies include losing herself in the minds and souls of characters, giving up countless nights of sleep to get to know said characters, and trying to introduce them to the world. Sometimes they appreciate her efforts. The process would probably go quicker if they’d bring her a cup of coffee now and then when stopping by. Characters—what can you do, right?
Liv has a penchant for quirky stories and is a reverent lover of diversity. She can be found loitering around the Internet at odd hours and being generally awkward and goofy at all times.

Why I Love Diversity
We each have our favorite things about meeting new people, right? Some of us zoom in on their faces (okay, we all do, it’s instinct :D), appreciate smiles, feel comfortable with certain kinds of behavior. A large part of that is due to culture, the environment we’ve grown up into, our likes and dislike, what we’d like others to see us as and so on.
But beneath it all, each of us has one really simple yet terribly complicated reason why we find someone interesting or not. It can be their sense of style or sense of humor, their body language even, their vocabulary, their hobbies – you name it! Something about people we meet will draw our attention, either positive or negative, and we all have that one thing, that one interest which will decide how the relationship develops. I’m talking about any and all relationships, friendship, casual chatter, whatever contact gets established in the given situation.
What always drew me in was diversity. It’s maybe a ‘puzzle solving’ kind of deep curiosity, but whenever I meet someone new I ‘read’ them and as soon as I spot something I haven’t met before, I’m hooked. It can be anything, from their religious or politic point of view and how they make those connections, to how they react to different foods, to what kind of kink turns them on, to what they fall for – whatever it is, if it’s something new, I’m dying to find out more.
To me, a world without diversity would be tragic. So in the end, my love for diversity isn’t as much outer-world oriented as it is a selfish, personal quest to get to know different things, situations, opinions – to explore.
How do you feel about diversity?
