Book Review: “Eternal Flame (Guardians, Book One) by Valerie Twombly

The demon Drayos has caused havoc, resulting in the deaths of a lot of innocent female victims. 51hVzTm5ZJL._BO2,204,203,200_PIsitb-sticker-arrow-click,TopRight,35,-76_AA278_PIkin4,BottomRight,-67,22_AA300_SH20_OU02_

Marcus’s love Eliza was one such victim, beheaded by Marcus himself. All around him there is even more death as his brethren, inconsolable with grief, kill their mates also. On this day, Marcus has lost more than he would wish on anyone. Being a healer, he feels nothing but a failure as he is unable to heal the women and unable to heal the broken hearts of those who have had to slay their own mates.

Cassie’s dreams are hot enough to rival a paranormal romance novel – “I need to stop reading all those paranormal romance novels. They’re showing up in my dreams“.
Enjoying a much needed night out at a bar with her sister Jill, Cassie nearly passes out when her dream lover walks through the door. As he introduces himself to her, Cassie hauls ass out of the bar, fast enough to leave a track of flames behind her.

With a strong surrounding cast of very loving and protective friends and very evil enemies with very evil plans for domination, Eternal Flame is a brilliantly written tale of action, lust, love and betrayals and draws the reader into the world of the Guardians. The main stars, Marcus and Cassie, are not totally over the moon about the attraction they feel for each other but as the story plays out, they discover they need each other more than they care to admit.

What I liked: The way the story flowed. I find a lot of Paranormal books try to have quite a few hot and heavy sex scenes in every other chapter. I enjoy the story itself more than sex scenes, and in some books, the sex scenes seem to be the focus point and the story is told around them. In Eternal Flame, yes there is a couple of hot ‘n’ heavy scenes, but they’re not the be all and end all of the whole story.

What I didn’t like: The fact that I have to wait for the next title in the series. I am not a patient gal LOL.

Who would I recommend this to? Anyone that likes Paranormal/Supernatural books and doesn’t mind some descriptive sex scenes.

Eternal Flame is getting a 5 star rating from me for being an excellent read and leaving my hubby spluttering in shock 😀
